It is with great sadness that we tell you that Mulder left us Wednesday morning. He collapsed and died suddenly on his morning walk. Ron and I are still in shock over his passing. Losing these big guys is never easy no matter how old or how many years you have had them. Our best guess is that he had some sort of cardiac arrhythmia.
Mulder was never a show dog, though he did manage 4 points towards his championship. He just wasn’t comfortable in a show environment and preferred being a pet. He was our protector and chief babysitter for Bakari. He was probably the messiest Mastiff we have owned covering me with hair and slime with one visit to the vet. He usually left slingers on their walls and cupboards as well. However, they never complained because he was also their main blood donor at the clinic. Because of his size which was even big for a Mastiff, he was a conversation piece wherever he went. He wasn’t shy like Riles, but he took his protection duties seriously and not too many folks wanted to test how much that bark meant. He was good with small dogs and didn’t seem too interested in cats. He always tried to please me and earned Rally and Obedience titles though I’m sure he really didn’t want to be at a dog show. He had the true sensitive Mastiff temperament. We will miss him forever.
